EVENTS IN CLOVELLY


PALM SUNDAY 1st April 2012 - Special Service in All Saints Church at 11-00am with the Blessing of the Clovelly Donkeys and procession down to The Village.

EASTER SUNDAY 8th April 2012 - Holy Communion at 6-30pm in All Saints Church.

Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May 2012 - Clovelly Folk Festival - local musicians and singers to entertain you all day.

Dates in 2012 to be arranged soon - Amazing FLOWER FESTIVAL and ORGAN RECITALS in All Saints Church from 10-30am to 5-00pm. Refreshments all day.

Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May 2012 - Celebration of Local Ales & Cider - (Bank Holiday Weekend) Come along and enjoy a range of locally made beers and ciders in Clovelly village.

Saturday 2nd June 2012 - The New Inn Street Party to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee - fun and enjoyment for all ages.

Sunday 3rd June 2012 at 2-30pm - A special Jubilee celebration service in Saint Peter's Chapel in Clovelly village.

Saturday 23rd June 2012 -  Lundy Gig Row - From Clovelly Harbour at 8am the crews row the 16 miles to Lundy and back on Sunday about 11am.

Sunday 8th July 12 noon - The Annual Sea Sunday Service on the Quay 2012 - This national events remembers how much the work of the Missions for Seafarers and the RNLI do for all workers at sea and along the coast of the UK.

Sunday 15th July 2012 - all day - Maritime Festival - A day of traditional seaside entertainment. Shanty singers, Punch and Judy and lots more. Delicious seafood and succulent spit roast on the quay.

Monday 30th July 2012 - Woolsery Agricultural Show - all day at Clovelly Court. Lots of classes of cows, bulls, horses etc. etc. Bustling trade stands, local food and crafts and exhibitions.

Sunday 29th July 2012 - One Day in Summer - The Annual Parish Hall Garden Show and Fete. Local gardeners compete for best in show alongside craft competitions. Games and side shows.

Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August 2011 - all day - Lifeboat Weekend  - Held in aid of RNLI - a popular celebration of our lifeboat and her crew. Sponsored swim to Bucks Mills, race of men dressed as women, tug-of-war, slave auction and food stalls galore.

Date in 2012  to be arrnged soon - Annual Sausage Sizzle - 5-30pm to 8pm for All Saints Church - held at Dyke Green Farm, Higher Clovelly, best burgers and hot dogs with fun & games.

Saturday 18th August 2012 - Gig Regatta - Upholding the tradition of racing pilot gigs out in the bay.

2012 date TBA - The Great Tour Cycle round the UK - Ends the day in Clovelly Street.

Sunday 2nd September 2012 - Lobster and Crab Feast  - Join the fun party atmosphere with live folk music and theatre. Craft and food stalls with the Quay kitchen cookery demonstrations.

Sunday 18th November 2012 - Herring Festival  - A celebration of 'The Silver Darlings'. Mike Smylie with his Kipperland Exhibition. Herring dishes, local cider and wine, shanty singing and lots more.

Sunday 2nd December 2012 - Christmas Lights - In support of the RNLI. Accompany the brass band procession down the street for carols and witness the lights switch on and firework display.

Monday 24th December 2012 - All Saints Candlelit Carol Service at 6-30pm. A modern Carol Service telling the Christmas story with readings and poems.

 

EVENTS IN NORTH DEVON

Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th May 2012 - Devon County Show, Exeter - Animals, Food, Flowers and Fun!

2012 date TBA - Westward Ho! Potwalloping Festival - Local tradition of preserving the pebble ridge. Voted one of The Daily Telegraphs Top 100 Music Festivals.

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2012 - Woolsery Open Gardens - Opportunity to visit private gardens around the village. Cream Teas available.

Wednesday 1st August 2012 Umberleigh - North Devon Show - Traditional Agricultural Show - Animals, Crafts etc. 8am to 6pm.

Tuesday 28th to Friday 31st August 2012 - Bude 24th Jazz Festival - Players from all genres of jazz from all over the world to delight all music lovers.

Saturday 29th September to Sunday 7th October 2012 - Appledore Book Festival - Workshops and talks by various authors. All profits to charity.
